KnowBe4 Is Making Moves Towards a More Sustainable Future

KnowBe4 has recently kicked off some exciting eco-friendly plans for this year! We welcomed Lael, Director of Facility Services & Sustainability, who is spearheading KnowBe4’s Sustainability Program. From lowering our carbon footprint, to expanding our recycling program, and committing to the Knowster Climate Pledge, let’s take a look at some of our exciting sustainability initiatives!

In an effort to lower our carbon footprint, KnowBe4 has pledged to increase our use of clean, renewable energy to at least 25% for all offices globally by 2025. We plan to become carbon neutral across our organization by 2040! We are also expanding our recycling program to include recycling plastic and reusable bags, electronic waste, and new opportunities for limited composting. Along with our new recycling program, we will be rolling out training to teach employees how to make the most responsible decisions when it comes to recycling waste and launching mandatory sustainability training for all new hires. 

Not only does KnowBe4 take the climate seriously, but so do our employees! On Earth Day, April 22, 2021, we rolled out the Knowster Climate Pledge. This pledge is a commitment to climate change, the environment, and to take personal action and responsibility in our own communities. Within the first three weeks, over 30% of our staff across 11 nations took the Climate Pledge! Go Knowsters!

As part of their pledge, many Knowsters are reducing their personal carbon footprint in several ways, including minimizing waste, recycling, buying organic, local vegetables, eating less meat, turning off lights and electronics that are not in use, and composting in their own backyards! “We don’t just do the big things, like committing to net zero carbon by 2040 and net zero waste. We do the little things too, like neighborhood clean-ups and composting our breakroom coffee grinds,” says Lael.Overall, KnowBe4 is taking the steps for a more sustainable future through our amazing initiatives in protecting the environment. “Environmental responsibility is not just our company stance, it is our culture; it is who we are,” says Lael.
