Every year, when February arrives, the United States observes Black History Month, paying tribute to the heritage, achievements, struggles, and cultural impact made by Black Americans. At our company, the celebrations are spearheaded by the Black Knowsters Network, our in-house employee group, which spotlights the significant role of Black Americans in shaping our history, culture, and community. At KnowBe4, our ongoing mission is to foster an inclusive work environment that embraces diversity, allowing every Knowster to express their genuine self, especially our Black and African American team members. In today's blog post, we are excited to share insights from members of our Black Knowsters Network regarding the personal significance of this observance to them.
What has your career journey at KnowBe4 looked like?
My career journey at KnowBe4 has been nothing but amazing! I’m just one month short of celebrating my one-year anniversary with KnowBe4 and I can honestly say that applying and accepting my position has been one of the best career decisions I have made so far. I get to work with so many great people and everyone is super supportive of one another.
What does a day in your life look like in your role?
A day in the life of my role is ever-changing. One of the main things that I love is the fact that I’m never stuck doing the same thing every day. There is always something new happening. We get to collaborate with so many different teams as well which I thoroughly enjoy. From working with our amazing Onboarding team when it comes to New Hires, our HRIS team for Workday functionalities, our Legal team for Compliance and so many more great people, they contribute to the success of both my role and the day-to-day operations of KnowBe4. I also can't leave out how amazing the HR Data and Compliance Team is as a whole! We are the definition of RIGHT, FAST, AND FUN!
How are you celebrating Black History Month?
Black History Month for me is a time to celebrate my roots. I’m very fortunate to be a part of an African American Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, and over the years I have learned how impactful the importance of educating and giving back to our communities are. To me, Black History Month is about showing our appreciation to the generations before us who have paved the way and empowering the generations ahead of us so that legacies continue to grow and people will be inspired to keep moving forward for the greater good in us all.

The BKN has been a great resource for me. To have that community of people in your corner who not only have similar backgrounds as you but who are also rooting for you at the workplace or in a work environment is a great feeling to have. Everyone at KnowBe4 is super supportive but the BKN has provided comfort, encouragement, and overall positive energy that truly motivates me every day. I can wholeheartedly say that the BKN has also contributed to how great my journey at KnowBe4 has been.

What does a day in your life look like in your role?
Lots of tickets! After the Daily Briefing, I begin responding to any existing tickets from customers who have responded overnight, and I take new incoming tickets for the rest of the day, while picking up a few calls. I try to take a walk around lunch time, and squeeze in a NERF gun battle before the day ends.
How are you celebrating Black History Month?
I am celebrating Black History Month by reflecting and practicing gratitude for the the incredible Black Americans who paved the way for me to live the life that I live today. Without the tireless efforts of generations of Black Americans fighting for civil liberties, I wouldn’t know half the people I know, attended the schools I have, nor would I have been able to be in the current job I have today! I am eternally grateful for the sacrifices those who came before me have made, and hope I honor them by living their wildest dreams!
